Deal With It Or Die With It!

Sounds like good advice right? I can tell you for a fact that the only person that likes that statement is the one saying it! I mean, REALLY!!! I'm going through a tough time and that's the sage advice I get? Yep, that was it!

And you know what? It was the right advice! Now I can't vouch for the tone or motive it was said in, but the words were true and hit me like a freight train! If I don't own and deal with my issues then I'll die thinking "poor me"! And that's just un-acceptable!

If I can't learn to take criticism like a man (or a woman, if I was one) then I'll spend my life blaming others for my shortcomings and lack of success. I have to learn that every opportunity for growth that it might not look how I want it to. But if I'm truthful with myself, I'll realize that I don't have an exhaustive list of how truth will come to me, so I have to take every moment of criticism or correction with the attitude of "what is right about this moment and what can I take from it?"

Now, I'll be the first to say that it's not easy to do because my pride tries to get in the way and keep me from receiving by telling me I'm right and there's no way I'm wrong! I'm sure I'm the only one who's ever dealt with this and that you've never encountered such a situation! Wink, Wink! I have to buck up under the pressure though and realize that what is being said, no matter the motive or tone can help me if I'll let it! If nothing else, it challenges me to walk in love if someone is being a real stinker!

I also need to walk in mercy realizing I've been a prickly pear to deal with a time or two myself!

My real point here I guess is that I need to set aside pride, take the lumps of correction in love and move forward having gained insight I was ignorant of before!

Hope this helps!

Barry
